This guide outlines the various services available to the Eckerd College community and to borrowing and lending partners around the globe.

Frequently Asked Questions

 Who can use Interlibrary Loan?

Current Eckerd College faculty, students and staff may use Interlibrary Loan.

What materials can and cannot be obtained through ILL?

ILL can obtain books, articles, book chapters and other related items. Reference books, bound periodicals, magazines and other non-circulating items generally cannot be borrowed via ILL.

Does this service cost money?

ILL is generally a free service. Any fees will be dealt with on an individual basis if they cannot be avoided.

How will I receive my article request?

Most article requests are delivered electronically to your Eckerd College email account. You'll receive an email when the article is ready for viewing with a link and instructions on how to download your document. Your request will remain on your account for a period of 30 days. Once downloaded, you may keep the article PDF, no need to return it.

How long will it take to receive my ILL item?

Print books and other physical items may take up to a week or two to arrive. Articles and chapters may be faster because they are delivered electronically, in as quick as one to two days. Please plan ahead and factor in delivery time when conducting your research.

Where do I pick up my ILL item?

You will receive an email when your book has arrived and is ready for pickup. You may retrieve it at the Eckerd College Library Circulation Desk. Faculty may request delivery to their collegial mailbox when placing a book request.

How do I renew an ILL item?

See "Renewals" tab.

What happens if I lose or damage an ILL item?

Damaged or lost material will result in a replacement charge on your account and possible suspension of library privileges.
