This Library Guide is an ongoing project. We invite you to suggest resources.
Eckerd College Library's faculty and staff share the anger and grief over the murders of George Floyd, Armaud Avery, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, and so many others who have been victims of racist attacks in the United States. We condemn racism, oppression, and discrimination. We pledge as your college library to commit ourselves to stand up against systemic racism and violence against African Americans and to uphold our college's values as an inclusive learning community. We strive to develop spaces, collections, resources, and programming to serve our academic community to amplify the voices and the histories of People of Color. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
Information is powerful. It can transform us and the world.
Anti-Racism: Anti-racism is "the work of actively opposing racism by advocating for changes in political, economic, and social life. Anti-racism tends to be an individualized approach, and set up in opposition to individual racist behaviors and impacts." (National Education Association - Racial Justice in Education)
