With the introduction of the eighth edition of the MLA handbook, some changes on how to cite your sources were introduced. There is now a list of recommended core elements to look for and include in your citations.

  1. Author.
  2. Title of source.
  3. Title of container,
  4. Other contributors,
  5. Version,
  6. Number,
  7. Publisher,
  8. Publication date,
  9. Location.

The punctuation listed here is what comes after each element. If an element cannot be found, it can be left out.
