Examines American music types from Native American, African American, Anglo American ritual and folk music to classical and popular music of the present in light of its connection to the natural environment.

Welcome to the the research guide for your American Musical Landscapes course.  

 

Use the navigation to the left for resources to help you find information about soundscape resources. This course takes a topical approach to American sound and music. This course focuses on analyzing different approaches to understanding sound and the environment in the Americas. Students will develop an original piece of writing by analyzing their own field recordings. The course ends by reflecting on and comparing approaches to sound and music.
