View this short video to learn quick visual tips for identifying the difference between a scholarly and popular article. (1:32 minutes)
Many popular science articles are based on peer-reviewed science articles. For this assignment, you'll need to find two articles related to the environment. Topics might include natural disasters; newly discovered species; climate change; social issues like deforestation, soil degradation, or monoculture.
However, you are not limited by these suggested topics. Consider your audience, Professor Hoffman-Hall, and how you might be able to surprise her with a topic she's unfamiliar. Take a deeper dive and see what you can find.
You'll be looking at two connected articles -- one from a popular source and one from a scholarly source. Articles will be about the same topic. The tabs on the left can help you find each type of article.
