**Qualifications:**

- Attend, full-time, an accredited institution of higher education, preferably in Pennsylvania - Pursuing higher education goals in secondary education (preferably to teach Spanish)
- Or study Spanish in preparation for a career that would utilize the Spanish language
- Exhibits good citizenship and community involvement

- Will have unmet financial need
- Is not a recipient of other major scholarship awards
- Other than a strong potential for success, such factors as class rank and grade point average will not be criteria in ma the selection committee such factors are needed to distinguish between multiple potential candidates

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

Description

**TEACH**

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant can be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students. Students must intend to teach full-time, in high-need subject areas, for at least four years at schools that serve students from low-income families.

To be considered for this grant students must declare a TEACH Grant eligible major and meet one of the listed academic achievements. Additionally, undergraduates must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program within the College of Education before becoming eligible.

**Value**

The TEACH grant can be awarded for up to $4,000 per academic year, depending upon enrollment. While funding is considered a grant (free money), if students do not meet their post-graduation teaching commitment, this grant converts to an unsubsidized loan, and interest is applied retroactively.

**AWARD AMOUNT**
The amount you receive will depend on your enrollment status each semester. Additionally, TEACH Grants are reduced by sequestered percentage as determined by the Department of Education. Below is a chart which reflects the annual amounts, less the sequestered percentage.

- U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), each year
- Meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements
- Pursuing your first bachelor's or master s degree
- Undergraduate Students must be admitted in the Teacher Education Program, within the College of Education - Enrolled in a TEACH Grant-eligible Program

**ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT REQUIREMENTS: (must meet one)**
- A score above the 75th percentile on a college admissions test (ACT, SAT, GRE, etc). The percentile corresponds to all scores achieved during the same test period.
- A cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) through the most recent term for continuing students
- (Graduate Students Only) Be a current teacher. Documentation must come from a school official and must be on school letterhead (copies of teaching contracts will be accepted). Documentation must be provided each academic year.
